So the doors opened and infections rose dramatically. The Department of Health experts can be excused for saying “we told you so”. At the moment, infections seem to be confined to particular Melbourne suburbs, some of which are very nearly bordering on our region. Considering the influx of visitors to our towns over the past few weekends, we can only hope that those visitors respectfully practice social distancing.
We spoke with the Mayor of Hepburn Shire, Licia Kokocinski about the Council’s response to Covid-19 in the Shire. Read her comments here https://secretsmagazine.com.au/2020/06/the-mayor-speaks-about-hepburn-shire-covid-19
Shout out for Swiss Mountain Hotel
Our hospitality operators are doing an excellent job in maintaining the guidelines and this is a ‘shout out’ for the Swiss Mountain Hotel. We ventured out for lunch for the first time in a long time on Saturday and not wishing to risk the crowds in Daylesford, we headed to the Swiss Mountain. The food was very good, although the atmosphere a little weird being in a large venue, sparsely furnished with limited attendance. The management and staff were excellent, sanitising tables and chairs immediately customers left and when new customers arrived with the venue at capacity, they politely and firmly turned them away without rancour by any party. They did well.

Trentham Falls is one of the longest single drop waterfalls in Victoria, plunging 32 metres over ancient basalt columns. Winter is one of the most impressive times to visit when rain creates the strongest flow. Easy, picturesque walks will lead you from the car park to viewing areas

Where to now
Despite this temporary setback brought about by a thoughtless, selfish few, with common sense, consideration and respect for others, we will be able to move around again with care soon. Dan Andrews and his government have done an excellent job and we are confident that they will get us through this. And to the Premiers of our other States who like to throw barbs at we Victorians, can we say – you should be thanking us – you can now clearly see what happens when people don’t follow the rules.
