Now businesses are slowly opening, albeit cautiously, it will be interesting how quickly the public embrace a revived freedom. Personally, I dropped into Smokey Town Cafe in Creswick for a take away coffee today, but decided to enjoy it and a muffin sitting at a table. I had no idea how good it would feel to have that option again and how good that coffee tasted in a mug. We still need to practice social distancing as we still need to get through winter, but our towns rely on our businesses, let’s support them.
Speaking of support
Regular readers to this blog will be well aware that I am an animal lover and like so many others, I’ve been very concerned about Parks Victoria’s intention to cull the brumbies of the High Country by shooting. The group campaigning to save these beautiful animals who are an integral part of Australia’s history have had a victory in parliament, but the fight continues.
National Reconciliation Week has now passed, but reconciliation goes beyond one week. Hepburn Shire has produced three videos to take you on a virtual tour of ‘Peaks, Wetlands and Rivers’. Originally planned as an ‘on Country’ bus tour for Reconciliation Week – and we know what happened there – it has now been transferred to online virtual tours. When all this is over, these tours are trips you should take to understand our region and the original owners. http:// https://bit.ly/3czuNwO
Innovative fund raiser for Ballarat International Foto Biennale.
The Federal Government may have ignored the arts, but the arts are still forging ahead. The BIFB Live Auction is a series of exclusive works of art that have been curated to raise funds in support of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale for 2021. All these works for sale were exhibited by the Biennale in 2017 and 2019, by artists who are important and highly collectable. For more details about the auction visit http://ballaratfoto.org/auction
