The media is full of doom, gloom and vitriol, so we thought it was time for a little levity, with thanks to the VicEmergency App. A notice came through yesterday warning of an outbreak of Avian Influenza in two poultry farms in Lethbridge in the Golden Plains Shire. The advice was quite extensive and informative, especially when listing the birds most susceptible to infections. These included domestic fowl, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, pheasants, quail, turkeys and ostriches. Can’t remember the last time I saw an Ostrich in a chook shed, but if you have one, make sure you lock it up.

Its tough, but we’ll get there
Probably the worst aspect of the lockdown is not knowing when it will end. And when it does, the likelihood of us all rushing out into the wild blue yonder may be slow. We did that and look where it got us. For what it’s worth, my feeling is that we will all be taking life very cautiously for the foreseeable future, but I think we’re getting used to that idea. The masks may be annoying, we may struggle with cabin fever, but it could be worse – we could be in Beirut.
