The centenary of the end of World War 1 on 11th November, 2018 is being commemorated in many towns throughout the Nation. Locally the Kingston Avenue of Honour Centenary – will combine the solemnity of a commemorative service, followed by a community celebration of activities, music and fun.
The program begins with a moving parade led by the Creswick Light Horse Troop – evoking the image of young men on horseback who found a theatre of war beyond what anyone had experienced before.
The solemnity of the day is acknowledged in a memorial service
The day continues with displays and demonstrations of old crafts (know what a “Bodger” does?), memorabilia, children’s games and much more.
Tap your toes, join in song or kick up your heels with Scottish Reels and Irish Dancing.
You can win one night’s accommodation with breakfast basket at Creswick’s romantic getaway, Rossmore Cottage. Rossmore is a charming miner’s cottage from the 1860’s gold rush days. Simply register your name and email at the information tent to be in the running. http://www.rossmorecottage.com.au
Your inner beast will be well cared for with food from a variety of vendors and coffee brewers
