Farewell to one of Ballarat’s favourite sons

18010508_1906499166299194_2535537991793038977_nHe became an icon of the Ballarat Wildlife Park and had a huge international fan following.  Sadly at the ripe old age of almost 32 years, Patrick, the oldest bare nosed wombat in the world has passed away.  Rescued as a baby when his mother was hit by a car, Patrick was adopted by Ballarat Wildlife Park’s founder, Greg Parker and his family.  Over the years, Patrick endeared himself to park keepers and visitors alike even boasting his own Facebook page.  School excursions to the park usually included a meeting with Patrick who greeted thousands of children over the years, often from his wheelbarrow.  Today Ballarat lost one of its favourite characters who will be sadly missed by so many.
